The psalmist (David) declares "My prayer was genuine" (35:13). Jesus gives a wonderful example as he prays in Gethsemane -- "Take this cup away from Me. Nonetheless, not what I will, but what You will."

Jesus had in fact already declared this commitment to the Ftaher's will in a dramatic way by taking the cup and drinking from it at the Passover meal earlier that night. He had also declared "this is My blood that establishes the covenant; it is shed for many" (mk 14:24). But in the Garden, with his betrayal imminent, there is intensified urgency and awareness and renewed commitment.
