There was a clear choice facing the Israelites -- once in the Promised Land, they could obey and be blessed or disobey and be cursed (Deut 11:26-29). The blessings and cursings were very temporal ones relating to such things as the land, rain, harvests and enemies. We need to be careful about how we apply this aspect of Deuteronomic theology to our situations today. Applying it too mechanistically can lead to the errors of "Prosperity Doctrine". (Compare the theology of Job.) Not applying it at all means we miss the warnings about rejecting God's ways and forfeiting eternal blessing.
We are to obey, love and worship God (11:13). Everyone doing whatever seems right in their own eyes (as appealing as it might be to post-moderns) is condemned (12:8). If you were an Israelite, worship included bringing "burnt offerings, sacrifices, offerings of the tenth, personal contributions, and all your choice offerings you vow to the LORD" (11:11). Quite a list! There are subtle and technical differences between the different offerings, but one thing stands out. They were to give generously to their God as part of their worship.
