After the darkness of night comes the light of dawn. This is not only true in the physiacl world but also in the spiritual realm. Ps 30:5 expresses it beautifully - "Weeping may spend the night, but there is joy in the morning." Selwyn Hughes in his devotion applies this to the disciples' experience of Jesus' crucifixion and then his resurrection. In a different way, I'm sure it was true for the mother after Jesus expelled the demon from her daughter (Mk 7:30). Also for the deaf man with the speech impediment (7:35). But it also applies to many of the situations we face. Our Christian hope points us to the joy that will come in the morning.
